Access node
A node connecting a POI to the routing network.

Building
A structure within the venue, made up of one or more floors.

CMS
The Content Management System. In VisioMapEditor, this is the "Content" tab, used to manage names,descriptions, categories, and translations for your POIs.

Draft version
A preview version of your published map (hash prefixed with "dev-"), used for testing before going live.

Edge
A segment of the routing network connecting two nodes. Modalities are assigned to edges.

Floor transition node
A node allowing users to be guided from one floor to another (via elevator, escalator, stairs, or anunknown/outside transition).
Footprint
A surface using the "footprint" style, used to define the default zoom level for a building or the outside. Alsoused as the basis for geofencing zones.
I
ID
A unique identifier (letters, numbers, and a few special characters) given to an element to turn it into a POI.
Intersection node
A node marked to trigger directional instructions ("turn left/right") in the final application.
L
Label
Dynamic text tied to a POI's ID, displaying the name given to that POI in the CMS. Updates automatically ifthe name changes.
Legend
Static text that doesn't change over time (e.g., a street name).
Live version
The version of your map currently available in your production application.
Locale
A language/region variant used to manage translated content for your POIs.
LOD (Level of Detail)
A display mode showing more or less detail depending on camera distance. LOD1 shows all surfaces of afloor; LOD0 shows a simplified surface (usually the outer walls), used when floors are stacked or viewedfrom far away.

Modality
A mode of transport or user type (pedestrian, car, bus...) that can be assigned to routing edges.

Node
A point in the routing network. Can be a simple direction-change node, an access node, an intersectionnode, or a floor transition node.

Outside
The exterior view of the venue, shown by default when the map loads.
P
POF (Point of Focus)
A directional marker attached to an identified element (surface, icon, footprint) that defines the camera'srotation/orientation when a user opens the map or interacts with that element.
POI (Point of Interest)
Any map element that has been given a unique ID, making it interactive (clickable, searchable, usable as arouting destination). Also called a "Place".
PRM
A mode of accessible routing for users with reduced mobility. Enabled by default in the SDK, it excludesescalators and stairs from the proposed routes.
T
Target
A deployment destination for your map (an app, a website...), each with its own hash key.
V
Venue
The overall site being mapped (a mall, airport, campus...).
Z
Z-Fight
A visual glitch (flickering/aliasing) that occurs when two surfaces with the same extrusion height overlap orshare an edge.
